Happy Birthday Cake....Luau Style

Good morning Blogland! Since I have decided to start blogging again, I decided to come back with a twist. I am going to post pictures of all my styles of projects, not just sewing. I will start with a cake I made for my Luau Birthday party I had this summer. Its a pineapple coconut 3 tiered cake (4,6,8) decorated with umbrellas. It was so fun to make and practice my cake stacking skills. Enjoy!

The last 12 months ...Sew Productive.......

Hi there Blogland, I was looking through some pictures and I thought I would share some of my sewing from the last 12 months. I know I have disappeared but its for a good reason. I started my own consulting firm and another masters program. Sew in other words....busy as all get out! But I missed blogging and sewing sew I am going to get back to it :)

Halloween Costume - Burlesque Peacock

This was way too fun to make and wear. The base for the feather skirt is self drafted. I attached it to 3 inch wide black elastic and had a hook front closure. Once I had the perfect tail, I just paired it with a corset, short shorts and some great accessories and the burlesque peacock was born! (Sorry for just the skirt pic, my phone pic of the whole outfit didn't come out so clear. If any one is interested in seeing the entire getup, I can put it back on and take proper pics LOL)

That's Sew Vintage - The Mint Tutu

On the hanger
On the seamstress

This one was also fun to make and wear. I self drafted a full circle skirt pattern and layered until it was fluffy enough and made a satin liner. Since I have a small waist and bigger hips, I did a waist band with button closure to get in and out of it... not a perfect solution but it worked for me :)

Last but not least - Baby and Teddy Bear Tutus

I made these for gifts for the wee ones.....needless say they were fun to make and give....

Thanks for reading, I am back (for real this time LOL). My focus this month will be making gifts. I have a fabulous scarf that I made and as soon as my bestie sends me pics of her wearing it I will post so you can see. I also plan on doing some baby blankets for some of the local shelters.

Anyone else doing some charity sewing???? Would sew love to hear about it.

Until next time,

I'm so happy to see..you and me..back in stride again...

Who am I talking about? My machine of course! I have finally settled to the point where I can have time to sew again. I was in stitches about it...buying patterns without time to create, no fun I tell you. I am getting back in the saddle with an easy Simplicity skirt pattern so we will see how that goes. If its not a mess, I will post it :) If it is, well I will post my scrap collection LOL. Also, I am crafting a way to get my pattern collection catalogued and under control. Wish me luck! So Blogland, I am back again. How are things out there with you???

There's No Place Like Home

Hello all, I am finally back in the USA!!! I missed it so much but Singapore is absolutely gorgeous. I am tired as that flight was almost 20 hrs long but I just wanted to let you all know that a pic heavy post is coming soon. Balancing grad school was a daunting task, but I actually managed to get A's and B's on my assignments while working on a 14 hour time differential. I say all that to say I have been so busy and I am grateful to be back and able to enjoy some of your blogs. And before I forget, I finally finished my Butterick dress I was talking about last post so I will upload a pic once I get settled in. I am contemplating doing a review as there are so many out there...we will see...missed you all and keep up the great sewing work. Its great to be home :o)

Wow, life moves fast

Hello all, my deepest apologies to all you fantastic seamstress divas out there for not posting in a while. Life has been crazy!!! I haven't had time to sew but I will finally this weekend..YAY!!!! I am in grad school and I just got a new job :o) YAY! But the fast part is that I interviewed October 2nd, got an offer October 3rd, finish my 2 weeks on Friday and fly to Singapore for 3 WEEKS on October 27th!!! Yes divas, my 1st day on the job I am getting shipped out..how cool (crazy) is that?! However it was not expected so my life is wonderfully stressful and exciting at the moment. And yes I am jumping on the Butterick 5247 bandwagon...everyone loves this pattern and has great pics of it on pattern review. That plum jersey knit is calling my name..I wanted to be one of the first to write a review on that pattern but life got in the way (pout pout). Superwoman is exhausted but I still dream of notions and covet every new fabulous pattern that comes out. I promise you ladies I will finish that super easy and super chic dress by Sunday...thank GOD I have week off before I have to jet set. Please stop by and shout out..what awesome things are going on with you??????
